Self Portrait Part IV
I had a really good day today with this piece. Glad I sort of fixed my forehead, that pink spot was really bothering me. I also started on my eyebrows and eyes, and I'm real happy the way they came out as well. I know I know, I'm a bit of slow painter, but I have a feeling that once I get to the cheeks, it'll become faster. God I can't wait!!
Not sure if I will post tomorrow or for the next few days, but hopefully I will get some drawing done. Got loads to do, but I'm getting attached with this piece. Wonder why......

Hey Lina-Paola!
ReplyDeleteI have been so busy lately, but i just had time to check out your blog again! And i see a a big progress, good job!
It is looking really nice :-)
I am not an artist my self, but out of curiousity, why are the bottom-half a bit colored? With different colors? Is that so you can get a proper "final" color? With shadows and so on?
Hope you are doing all good!
Best Regards,

Thanks a lot Dennis, I'm glad you are liking the piece so far. You definitely have the right idea about the different colors on the bottom; its actually called "under-painting" so that when you put the final color on top, it will create more depth for your piece. That's why I also started by painting the whole piece blue so that I can create a bit more depth, and not just one flat color. I hope that answers your question, and I hope you are doing well yourself.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks again for checking up on my blog!
Lina, I love the way this is coming, I look forward to seeing the finish, hope you are enjoying the summer.
